Project Overview
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is a major passenger ferry gateway serving regional routes from Singapore. As part of the terminal’s upgrading works, the existing VSDs controlling its chilled-water and condenser-water pumps were identified for replacement.
The requirement was for a more cost-effective VSD solution capable of reliably operating the existing pump systems while reducing ongoing maintenance requirements. The replacement also needed to integrate efficiently into the existing installation.
Solution Provided
Trans-Digi supplied Himel HAVSP Smart Pump Series VSDs for the chilled-water and condenser-water pump applications, together with testing and commissioning.
The HAVSP’s compact footprint helped simplify replacement of the existing European-brand VSDs within the available installation space. The replacement arrangement also enabled the project team to optimise cable requirements, helping reduce installation costs.
Following installation, Trans-Digi completed testing and commissioning to verify correct VSD operation and ensure the pump systems were ready for handover.

Project Outcome
The Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal project was successfully completed and handed over to the customer. The replacement demonstrates Trans-Digi’s capability to deliver VSD upgrading works for existing transport infrastructure while balancing system compatibility, installation efficiency and lifecycle cost considerations.
With the terminal undergoing upgrading to support passenger capacity of more than three million passengers annually, reliable chilled-water and condenser-water operation forms an important part of maintaining comfortable terminal conditions for passengers and staff.
